Starbase Indy: The Next Generation is Back! That's right
you heard correctly. The Fan-Based Run Convention will be back this
November during Thanksgiving weekend at the Marriott East in Indianapolis.
With the recent
rumors about Slanted Fedora, and the concern if there would be a Slanted
Fedora convention this year, a group of fans decided to get together and
ensure that we Sci-Fi fans in Indianapolis still have a Convention over
Thanksgiving Weekend. Known as
Starbase Indy: The Next
Generation, it will have all the conventions features we've come to
love about our Thanksgiving Weekend Sci-Fi convention: Science Fiction
Stars, Dealer's Room, Fan Hospitality Suite, and a Saturday Night Dinner &
Dance. As usual, there will be more than likely be those over 21
evening room parties as well.
According to Rusty Harrell and Kim Huff,
initiators and owners of Starbase
Indy: The Next Generation, the first guest has already
been confirmed - James
Horan. James is a Star Trek: TNG and Star Trek: DS9 veteran
and a wonderful guest for fan interactions. Other guests are currently
in negotiation according to Rusty and will be made available as they are confirmed.
In addition to the stars, dealer's are
currently being solicited to attend as well so that you can find that
special something (or somethings in my case - I always spend too much
money!). The Dealer's Room will be in the same location as it has been
held in the past at the Marriott, making access easy.
Additionally, there will be a Special Dinner
and Dance on Saturday Night. This particular dinner will be the 30th
Anniversary for Starfleet Command
(an international science fiction fan club).
Starbase Indy: The Next
Generation has agreed to allow the dinner theme to celebrate the
existence of this wonderful fan-club.
Pricing and Registration are not yet
available, but should be soon according to Kim Huff. However, the
Starbase Indy: The Next Generation Staff Committees have been formed.
Chairs and Co-Chairs are in place and have begun meeting to ensure that all
areas of a convention run smoothly, and that the experience of
Starbase Indy: The Next Generation is Fan-Friendly. Each of the Staff Committees,
however, need volunteers!. This is
a great opportuntiy as a fan to not only attend, but also dedicate a portion
of time to help make the Fan-Based Convention is a success.
Welcome Back
